Shibui Design offers plates with a special graphic illustration. The plates are perfect for serving sushi and other dishes.

Our plates are made of porcelain in the colors white and cobalt blue. The plate’s design represents an icon of Tokyo, namely the Tokyo Tower, Sushi, Sumo, Yamanote-sen, Kaminarimon and Maneki-Neko.

The Tokyo Tower (東京タワー), a replica of Paris’ Eiffel Tower, is 333 meters high and is the tallest, self-supported steel tower in the world. The tower is built in the Shiba Park.

Sumo wrestling is Japans national sport and only men practice the sport professionally. A sumo wrestling contest rarely takes a minute or more, most times the contest lasts for a few seconds. The gaining of weight is an important part of the sumo training.

The Kaminarimon (雷門), meaning the Thunder Gate, is the first entrance gate that leads to the Sensoji Temple. Under the gate hangs a 4 meter tall red chōchin (red lantern). The Kaminarimon was first built in 941 and is the symbol of Tokyo’s Asakusa district.

Sushi comes in various types and sizes and is enjoyed at special occasions. Sushi is vinegards rice topped with other ingredients. Popular sushi types are nigari, norimaki and gunkan.

The Yamanote-sen (山手線) is Tokyo’s most important train line and one of it’s busiest in Tokyo. Built in a loop, the train track covers 34.5 kilometers (1.4 mi) and opened in 1885. By estimation, daily 3.68 million passengers use the train line.

Maneki-Neko (招き猫) can be found with either the left or right pawn raised. The meaning of the left and right pawn differs over time but the common believe is that a raised left pawn brings in customers while a raised right pawn brings good luck and wealth.
